UPDATE: Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope Release Date Officially Announced

We’ve had to wait a while, but Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope has finally got a release date. The Ubisoft Store accidentally posted the release date on the site.

As expected, we didn’t have to wait long for the official Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope release date announcement. During the Mini Direct, Nintendo revealed that October 20 is indeed the date that we can expect the new game on store shelves.

It is more common that release dates are leaked by web shops, but often it is external parties such as Amazon. This time, only Ubisoft itself seems to have made a mistake. The Ubisoft Store showed the release date for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. The information has since been removed, but not before screenshots have been taken that are now circulating on social media, including on the Wario64 channel.

The release date posted on the Ubisoft Store is October 20, 2022. That matches other leaks that have been made about the game. Chances are, Nintendo intended to announce the release date today during the new Nintendo Direct. The Direct Mini is all about third-party games.

It’s also not the first time information about Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope has been accidentally leaked through official channels. The game was announced during the Ubisoft show at the 2021 ‘E3’, but earlier in the day the new Mario + Rabbids had already appeared on the Nintendo store.

Tactical Battles with Mario and the Rabbids

Just like the original Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle from 2017, players can get back to tactical combat. The gameplay is similar to the XCOM games. This time the characters go into space alone to stop an evil entity and save the Sparks. To what extent the gameplay will be adjusted is still unclear, but we may find out more about that during the Nintendo Direct Mini.
